Minchah Prayer

“…neither shall they learn war any more…” Isaiah 2:4 AKJV

Has there ever been a time when we weren’t waging war, even from the beginning to now? Man has been at war with man continuously from his expulsion from the Garden to now interspersed with periods of peace along the way. But it never lasts. We aspire to high ideals but the reality never matches the dream for long, if at all.

I’ve been listening to a number of podcasts lately about war and though never having thought much about it, it has struck me, there are those who study war… deeply. It’s almost an obsession that takes them back through history to learn of tactics and strategies employed, seasons, topography, population sizes from which to draw manpower, but, and above all, the development of weaponry as a key factor enabling the ability to kill more effectively, efficiently, with fewer losses.

Well you might say “That’s the point isn’t it.” Not a question there, but a statement. And it is the point… on both sides of the battle line.

To me, it is most unsettling and a point of fear that there are those whose whole focus, is on how to kill. I would feel a little better if it were difficult to imagine ways to kill, but it appears as if it’s not so hard, and that there is no limit to the imaginings that come to mind, and when I listen to these guys I detect an underlying… well, almost, excitement at the prospect of assured lethality and the power it gives one.

We would be like the Most High. I truly believe that’s where this ultimately leads one… in one’s heart… in a nation’s own heart… if… this learning of war is not done within the framework where we… do not “lean unto our own understanding”… and is balanced by Yahweh’s way of judging, so that the fascination and eagerness with projecting power does not lead us to turn something meant to protect into a means to dominate, fall into the hands of a relative few, as it always does, and be used for anti-God purposes. We need to… learn… something else…that framework which balances… Which brings us back to Isaiah and our prayer…

Father… You say to us… “Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before Mine eyes; cease to do evil…”

So may we be transformed by the Blood and its renewing that we might then…

“Learn to do well; seek justice, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow… “Worthy pursuits.

May we seek and submit ourselves to Your teaching us of Your Ways, to

your judgment and rebuke… humbly… so that we can “…walk in Your paths…” “image You” … in our pursuits and the use of the knowledge we have…

That we may begin fulfilling the prophecy:

“…and they shall beat their plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more…”

Oh, Father… our cry…

“Oh house of Jacob…” Oh, fellow man. “… come ye, and let us walk in the Light of the Lord…”

May You be glorified, Father…

For You are worthy…

We glorify You Abba…

We pray Father… in the name of Your Son, who advocates for us… our Master and Friend…

Yeshua Messiah…

Amen.
