“And Hezekiah received the letter by the hand of the messengers and read it; and Hezekiah went up into the house of the Lord and spread it before the Lord.
And Hezekiah prayed before the Lord…” 2 Kings 19:14-15 AKJV
Father may we learn a lesson for Hizkiyahu, king of Judah who, after looking outward at his circumstances, then looked upward to You to save him and the people, from a power greater than them.
He didn’t withdraw inwardly into himself and dwell on fear but immediately, without hesitation, brought his and the people’s circumstances to You to save Your people and to demonstrate to the world that You are sovereign over all powers, both in the spiritual and the physical realm. What confidence and peace of mind must have been his, humbly bowed before You.
“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down but not crushed.”
Father, may we in these days and in the circumstances of our daily lives, when we look outward and see troubles all around… not withdraw inwardly to fear, distress, despair or defeat… but look upward… bring it all and lay it out before You and pray to You in the sure and certain knowledge that You do not abandon or forsake. You will do a work that will lead to good and will glorify You.
We give thanks, always, ahead… for what You will do and for the confidence and peace in the knowledge that You will show Yourself, to “all the kingdoms of the earth” … to be… “Yehovah, God—You alone.”
