Father, we are at the beginning of the pilgrimage Feast of Tabernacles, Sukkot. And for us who covenant with You, in Yeshua, it is a rehearsal of a time to come when the boundaries of time and space will no longer define our existence nor will our human condition prevent us from being in your very presence. Your plan that we be with You and You with us will have been carried out and accomplished… all the seed planting, watering, pruning and nurturing of the ages producing a harvest and finally gathered in… into Your heavenly storehouse… the home that You have prepared…“and so shall we ever be with…’You’”.
Seven days Father… may this rehearsal be a genuine, glad anticipation, a short foretaste of the future You have in store for Your children.
And at the end of the seven days may those days have been so sweet… that we could not bear to depart, but had to linger yet one day more, make this fellowship with You and one another last just a little bit longer… before our return to everyday living. So the rabbis say is the reason a day was added to the seven in Your Holy Word.
It is a sweet thought Father, this lingering, that the rabbis imagined and shared.
But sweeter yet Father is that the limit of that one day to linger we enjoy now… that that limit will be removed and the eighth day will be… forever more.
May the labor, the business of preparations and execution be carried out with happy hearts and may what could easily be reacted to with impatiens, fault finding and grousing be instead dealt with a glad servant heart’s spirit, with eagerness to help and with good-naturedness… a labor of love Father… the power to express, we call on You to give us. For we can do nothing good apart from You.
And may You be glorified.
In Yeshua’s name we pray…
Amen.
