You have watched over us through the night Father and as we wake we give thanks for the gift of this new day.
The realities of our individual circumstances, and those of the world in which we live, come awake as well. Those things we experienced a brief rest from are there to face and deal with. Some things will be easy, some will be hard. Some things will be a source of upset while others will make us glad.
We make our prayer to You concerning what is on our hearts and then ask Father, that as we direct our attention to the work of the day Your presence would be continually with us, unseen companionship, quietly there throughout the day.
We pray our day to be lived out that the practical character of our actions would include a spiritual ingredient… Father. We pray that Your quiet presence, there with us, would move us intuitively… even as we are focused on what is in front of us… so that this be a day…of actions… physical actions Father that come across to others in such a way that our physical actions and our behavior also carry with them a sense of love for our neighbor.
We are gladdened for the beauty and goodness there is.
We are downcast about the troubles in our lives and the lives of others around the world… in so many cases terrible troubles.
Make us sensitive, give us the words, show us what we can do Father so in some way we can minister to one another and in doing so we will have actually done something good.
