Minchah Prayer

Father, there are times when we wonder “Will we ever get it completely right?”

Sometimes it seems like we won’t. Sometimes, thinking like that, we are tempted to half hearted attempts if that at all, at our walk with You… wondering “When was the last time I got something right? If that’s the way it’s going to be, where is the hope of doing right, of doing good? How to proceed?”

Peter denied You.

Judas betrayed You.

They both had come to a crossroad where they were confronted with what they had done, cried bitter tears, were overcome with remorse, and at that point may have thought, probably did think, ‘I’ve blown it. There’s no hope.’

At his crossroad, Peter said to You, “You know I’m your friend.” In his heart he must have been so grateful of even being addressed by his Master and friend, so wishing to be forgiven, hoping against hope.

At his crossroad Judas was in deep awareness of his betrayal and suffering terrible remorse.

He had the same Master, the same friend, willing to forgive, but he did not have that almost ludicrous hope that Peter had… for reconciliation, for restored fellowship… because of what he had done.

Both had experienced You in Yeshua.

One trusted in You, that there was in You hope… the other did not trust there even was hope. Instead he made judgment and execution himself, rather than at least seeking his Master and in that same ludicrous hope Peter had…when there was no reason to have any… fall before Him and weep his sorrow for what he had done.

The choice was theirs to make,

and You allow it to us as well.

You will honor it either way.

You are awesome Father.

For all our shortcomings that cause in us a sense that we will never get things right, You are willing to forgive us and maintain fellowship with us… that with You we have a hope and life.

We love You Abba Dear Father…

and we pray in Yeshua’s name…

Amen.
