Minchah Prayer – Questioning & Believing

Father, when Your Messenger spoke with Z’kharyah and told him Elisheva would bear him a son. He questioned out of disbelief and wanted an explanation so that he could be sure.
When Your Messenger spoke with Miryam, she wanted to know how it was going to come to pass. She did not question that what had been told her would happen, only the how.

How easy it is for us to relate, Father, to Z’kharyah, and his need for explanation, before believing.
How wistfully and wishfully we might view Miryam’s simple, unquestioning, belief and acceptance.

Father, You are. Everything is because You have made it. There is nothing You cannot do. Creation is proof of that and Your Word is the account and the explanation.

Father, may Your Word and all it contains come alive in us and grant us please, simple unquestioning faith to trust at those times when study and circumstances bring questions to our minds.

Thank You for the knowledge You do provide. How it does explain things and grows our love for You.

But strengthen us in faith and trust that we might, in the absence of complete understanding, be like Miryam and be a people who can say “I am the servant of Jehovah; may it happen to me as you have said.”

In Yeshua’s name we pray,

Amen.
