Minchah Prayer – Everything Continues

“…For our fathers have died, and everything goes on just as it has since the beginning of creation…”

Father, sometimes it seems like our efforts are futile. It makes no difference what we say or do, nothing changes and things keep going on just like they always have.
Sometimes we adopt that outlook so that we can ignore a problem, thinking if we do nothing or if nothing happens, it will just go away. Sometimes we do that by going silent. Sometimes we go silent with You or with someone nearby.

“I was silent, said nothing, not even good…
make me grasp, Adonai, what my end must be,
what it means that my days are numbered;
let me know what a transient creature I am.
You have made my days like handbreadths…
Now, Adonai, what am I waiting for?
You are my only hope…”

Father, one day goes to two goes to years so quickly and one day we realize there is little time or no time to fix things because of that “ignoring, shunning silence.” Make us so sensitive to the fact that our days are numbered and unknown that we would be just as alarmed at their brevity looking ahead now, as we will be in looking back on them later. Make Your Spirit in us convict and prompt, say to us “What are your waiting for?! Break the silence! And once you start, don’t stop!”

“…The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some people think of slowness; on the contrary, He is patient with you; for it is not His purpose that anyone should be destroyed…
However, the Day of the Lord will come…”

May we understand, enable us Father to understand, that it is Your love for us that buys us more time, another opportunity, to repent, be sorry, turn from and to… Make us understand, truly understand, the days of Your patience and graciousness are numbered as well.

May we leave revenge and justice to You Father, and we, break the silence, open ears to hearing and forgive.

You are our hope and our strength. Your ways are right. We trust in You.
Thank You Father.

In Yeshua’s name we pray,

Amen.
