“Everyone is to obey the governing authorities. For there is no authority that is not from God, and the existing authorities have been placed where they are by God.” Romans 13:1 CJB
“Kefa and the other emissaries answered, “We must obey God, not men.” Acts 5:29 CJB
Father we are blessed to live in a land where we can question and resist laws that may require us to be disobedient to Your laws but this is not so everywhere in the world and we are heading into days when to be obedient to Your law will make us law breakers in men’s eyes. In times like that we will be obliged to obey You and not men in spite of negative consequences.
Our prayer is Father, that our fear of You and more, our love for You would be such that there would never even be a thought of disobeying You. And that You would give us grace and courage to be true to You in those times.
Even now though Father, we need a discernment and wisdom that only You can give… to recognize and reject behavior and actions that though by man’s law are acceptable, they are not right in Your eyes. We need Your Spirit to be constantly alerting us and reminding us what is lawful and not… so that we do not confuse man’s legalized permissiveness or social acceptance as a sign of what You deem as not only right and good, but even whether it is “helpful” and “edifying”
‘“Everything is permitted,’ you say?” Maybe, but not everything is helpful.
‘Everything is permitted?’ Maybe, but not everything is edifying.”
So the standard by which we order and live out our lives is even higher. Just another example Father, of how Torah has been brought to fuller meaning for our lives.
Be ever near Father …
May we increase in our knowledge of Your ways… the willingness and strength to be faithful and obedient to do them.
Be glorified Abba Dear Father… we pray… in Yeshua’s name
