2nd Day Prayer

“Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness…”  Psalm 30:4

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning…”  Psalm 30:5

Turn…”for me my mourning into dancing… put off my sackcloth, and ‘gird’ me with gladness to the end that my glory may sing praise to Thee, and not be silent.” Psalm 30:11-12

“They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” Psalm 126:5-6

“Though ‘You’ slay me, yet will I trust in ‘You’…” Job 13:15

Your Word Father instructs us to give thanks always and for all things… to You. The joy of this season we are in is that the theme of our celebrations, those You have ordained and the manmade observance of gathering and breaking of bread together, of a day of thanks… is to give thanks to You Abba, who alone in power and graciousness has blessed us throughout the year.

It is a season that has its own unique spirit of friendliness and good will, openly expressed between peoples in their comings and goings, (thank You Father) and oddly, in the midst of and in spite of the reality and spirit of “troublings” that are present in our lives, in the lives of those around us.

How is that possible?

Father…Maybe it is possible because Good and our trust in It, is more powerful to make glad than evil is to hurt and destroy. Good comforts, It sooths, It births and keeps alive hope.

When…?

As in the hard times when our days are sown with tears because of sickness, or discord within family, or days in which loss is suffered… as in days when we see and experience outside our immediate circumstances the fussing and feuding between peoples, real hatred, the reality of one man lifting his hand with murderous intent against his fellow man.

How?

By trusting, by remembering Your holiness, Your mercies that are fresh and never ending, remembering Your steadfast, patient love, by singing from our hearts, songs to You, exercising a faith so strong that even if it were You that directed evil upon us, we would trust in You still.

We weep those tears into the night of our “troublings”, precious seeds… in the trust that the glad harvest will come, that our mourning’s will turn into song and dancing… to the end that we can sing praise to You and not be silent.

As in all things, in this world where we walk with You to our real home, life is bittersweet.

But we thank You for it. You have made for us a future.

Continue Father, molding us in Your image.

Continue Your indwelling that we may have that perfect love… that is of You… towards our fellow man.

Empower Your Word on our lips and Your loving intent towards others in all our actions… to draw all people out of darkness into Your marvelous light.

O Father…

In Yeshua’s name we pray…

Amen.
