“You are good, and You do good; teach me Your ways…” Psalm 119:68 CJB
Collectively Father, all Your attributes, which You have enumerated and demonstrated to us in Your word and which we recognize and confess to You, and one another…in our conversations and meditations, in our prayers, could be characterized as goodness… what goodness is… what it looks like?
But it isn’t that You are…just good… but You… do good.
You did so in the beginning and meant it to always be so in our lives.
If it hasn’t turned out that way, it’s not been Your fault. All too often, from the beginning, we have tilted our head in the direction of the serpent’s whisper as he counseled/ counsels… and we altered/alter… just a little here and a little there… and adulterated/adulterate what You have established as “perfectly good”… could it be because Your good was/is not satisfying enough for us?
Father, may we wake to each new day, conduct ourselves in each individual circumstance, with the intent to determine what You accept as good and apply it to our thoughts and actions… and Father, that our satisfaction and pleasure would be in doing so… Your Word… is… the way, the things we see all around us, You have made, prove Your realness.
Teach us Your ways, Father, plant in us a hunger, understanding, and a love for them.
And may they become so much of us that we would “naturally” do good… towards You and towards our fellow man.
That we would become more like You, Father…
In Yeshua’s name we pray…
Amen.
