Father, we thank You for the holy day, Shabbat as a day set apart from the common days of the week.
In the common days is the routine of life that tax our bodies and spirits. Though we walk with You through these days, in order to, do so rightly, it is a time of laboring through the challenges of everyday life’s demands and obligations that, for good or bad, tire us as we labor to fulfill them.
Sometimes we do and sometimes we don’t, but there is no let up.
Then comes Shabbat, a Holy Day set apart… and we set aside… all the others… all the demands and obligations they contain, and yes, those things that we do for pleasure to distract our attention from them.
You instruct us to cease and rest and be at peace.
How kind of You, Father, and how much we need that, in spite of, what we or the world thinks.
In that Day Shabbat, we can remember that You made all things in six days, that in six days You did all Your labors and that… what needed to get done… got done. And You didn’t fret. You rested.
Are our labors so much higher than Yours that we would not follow Your example…
We live in times and within the framework of cultures and customs that have drifted from Your ways and which make it so difficult to be faithful to Your desires for us.
Thank You Father for the command that obligates us to turn our attention towards You… in praise and worship… in quiet prayers of gratitude and thanksgiving… separating from the common and joining ourselves intimately with the Holy One.
Thank You for the rest and renewal for our bodies and spirits.
May we carry the blessings of this Day with us into and throughout the rest of the week, giving us solace and patience and calm for dealing with every challenge.
May we give You glory for it all.
Thank You Abba Dear Father…
In Yeshua’s name we pray…
Amen
